About Icewine
Icewine is a rare and exceptional wine from Canada. For most wines, grapes are harvested in September and October, however, to produce Icewine, the grapes are not harvested until December or January when the temperatures have reached at least minus ten degree Celsius.
After hand harvesting these frozen grapes, they are pressed immediately yielding a juice with intense concentration of sugars, acids, flavours and aromas. The yield, however, is far lower than for most wines, requiring ten times more grapes per bottle. The end result is a unique dessert wine commonly referred to as, “The Nectar of the Gods”.
